We were a motley crew of five destined for a good time in Petaluma: Lagunitas Brewery tour. Two supervisors, two of our newest hires and myself (restaurant manager in CM) were overwhelmed with great beer, good company and interesting stories from our tour guide/beer expert. We learned about the inception of Lagunitas Brewery: the owner, Tony, began brewing beer at home. In need of more space and higher quantities of his groundbreaking brew, Tony put down roots in Petaluma to make and distribute some of the best beer around, if you ask me.
We tried countless beers, but the winners among the team were the Hop Stoopid and the Cappuccino Stout. Lagunitas IPA has a permanent place in my fridge and in my heart, but that Stout was impressive and the idea of a beer float as opposed to a root beer float was appealing to all of us. On the actual tour: we tasted hops and barley in their natural dry state, saw the yeast and how they control how much goes into a batch, and marveled at the large quantities of kegs and beers ready to head out their doors (nationally and internationally). Cheers and thanks to Lagunitas!
