TweetUps:  New Girl Still Needs Popular Girl
November of last year our social media guru @sexythinker suggested we host a TweetUp. I was the new girl in the world of twitter and didn’t know what to expect.  I lamented for hours over what to include in the tweetvite to attract interest. Growing up I was the new girl often, so after a little self-talk, I knew I had to confidently put myself out there and hope for a response.  But lets be realistic, confidence only gets you so far, so complimentary snacks, gift card raffles and full bar were sure to help.
Once the tweetvite was sent, I incessantly looked to see how many people had viewed it and how many RSVP’d.  People were viewing, actually a lot, pretty quickly, but not RSVP’ing.  Then I got a couple “Maybe’s.”  What does that mean?  Was this going to be a total bust? Was I going to be the kid with no one at my party? Then @sally_K RSVP’d she was coming. Yeah I have a friend.  I don’t even know this person, but I love her.  @sally_K even retweeted the invite and wrote about it on her blog. Word traveled fast and the yes replies started coming in.   @sally_K is obviously the “captain of the cheerleading squad” in the Marin Twitter world and people followed her.  As the new kid, I was happy to have an @sally_K.  I couldn’t wait to meet her.
@sally_K we hope you make it to the TweetUps in March.  Bring all your friends!
